Re: Steering wheel replacement

I used an aftermarket unit from Grant. I don't have a number as I bought this thing about 30 years ago. It has really no dish. I, too, wanted more room between it and the seat and I have long arms. The wrap on it closely resembles the grain in the leather on the seats.

The choice is yours.

Re: cost of paint job

I used higher end materials and did my own and still spent over $1K for just the sealer, color, clear, reducer and catalysts. (all the stuff I used just on "Shooting Color and Clear" Day. This doesn't include the countless coats of filler primer that I sanded back off onto the floor.

Re: James Dean Festival 2018

I used to go to this event every year with my Dad in his cars. It's really a cool event. Tried going again last year but car trouble with one of Dad's prevented us from getting there. Dad is not is good enough shape to go out of town anymore. You guys have fun.

Re: My Wife's 40th

That's a great story and a great idea for a reveal. I did a similar thing for my wife's 40th. She had a 73 Olds Delta 88 Vert when she was in high school. She still had it when we met. I tried fixing it back up many years ago but it was too far gone. So instead I found a southern car out of Alabama ...

It's a crying shame that you have no space to work on that. :poke:

Good Luck with the project.

Re: Repair or replace?

Somebody's living right! I'm late to the party but I agree with the route you took. Yours appears to have be repaired once before. Swapping in a direct replacement is the easiest and most cost effective. Sure, going with a 9" in tempting. But the Ford 8" is plenty strong for most applicati...
