Re: Mercury Dealers Vs. Ford Dealers shoot out ??

Hmm... would a list like that even have existed back in the day? It seems like nowadays there are lots of vintage drag-related pages with TONS of pics, but back then I don't see how or why they would have started such a list. Can you give us any clues as to what you may have found? That might help g...

Re: Approximate fair value

Can't tell for sure but it looks like you got original 69 center caps on your wheels. Sell them to a 69 owner and buy the black repo Mercury head caps from WCCC. They would look much better on your Cougar. Huh... I happen to know a guy with a '70 that is looking for those center caps. He also happe...

Re: Approximate fair value

Darn, was really hoping that the low production numbers of j code 4 speeds would help the value a bit. Hey, you don't have to listen to us! As they say, it's your car, you can ask what you want for it. And as my Dad always told me, you can come down, but you can't go up. So price it higher, but may...

Re: Why is it a weird color?

I would equate it to chords of music. Some notes are more pleasant than others when they are banged at the same time.

Re: Wanted my partial vin stamped C-6 transmission 543072 PGB W

The day I sat in the retirement home and talked to the good doctor about your car, he stated the original trans was sitting in the corner of the garage up against the house. A subsequent visit to the house found the trans he was referring to in the location referenced in the conversation. That tran...

Re: Approximate fair value

Very nice car! I'd say throw a few $hundred and a weekend of time at it and replace the torn seat covers and shifter boot with correct replacements. Appearance is a big factor, and you don't want to give a customer something obvious to use against you. Besides, if they see torn seats they might wond...

Great update, glad you got it in the garage and had a chance to really check it out more. Too bad about the build sheet, but you never know - there might be one hiding in there somewhere!
