Re: Knocking Question

Re: Seat Foam

Pretty much every Cougar owner ends up with a shelf full of Mustang parts that "should" fit a Cougar but don't. When you see a Mustang vendor listing Cougar as an application be very careful. Any body need parts kits for 9" rear brake rebuilds? They were listed for Cougars with 9" rear axles...

Re: Low Fuel Thermistor Troubleshooting

The bullet is soldered in place. It takes a powerful soldering iron to unsolder that 50 year joint.

Re: Low Fuel Thermistor Troubleshooting

Modern gas with methanol combines with water to produce sulfuric acid. The acid eats the thermistor. The good replacement thermistor is no longer available. I have found a replacement that is made in Taiwan and I have 500 on order.

The March 2019 Ride of the Month is Melissa and Ray Shereda's '68 Standard CRZYCAT

Better the second time around... 800|523|2019|4772.jpg Melissa Shereda hasn't always been the Crazy Cat Lady. She did not start out driving a Cougar in High School. Instead, she had a tricked out Baja Bug. It wasn't until later in life, following a divorce when she needed a car to drive, that Melis...

Re: What am I doing wrong? Won't start/idle...

First starts are incredibly hectic: you are trying to keep it running well enough to get the timing set and the carb idle air mix set and of course the engine is dead cold to start with so the choke is kicked in. I recommend that you have your timing light hooked up, if running points, a dwell / Tac...

Re: Here is Practical Explanation about Next Life,

What I don't understand is how these foreign spammers can answer what kind of engine was used in all Cougars between 1967 and 1973, but regular car guys can't seem to figure it out?

Re: A/C vs High Performance

Some really good points being made here. I always thought it was about continuous high speed operation meaning going down the highway at 70 mph or better and having the engine turning 3500 RPM. I am not sure how much heat would build up in the compressor doing that. Then I suspect that when the clut...

Re: Engine Heads Question

I have never seen a head on a 289 with 351 cast into it. Back in the day, the Ford Muscle Parts catalog told you how to put 351 heads on a 289 or 302. One thing they sold was a head bolt that had a thicker shaft (to fit the opening in the 351 head) and then necked down to a smaller diameter to fit t...
