WCCC open house 2018

#1

Post by fordnutz » 07 Feb 2018, 14:36

Just so interested Cougar enthusiasts are aware, I was speaking with Clive from WCCC to try to get an open weekend for the WCCC open house. There’s no perfect days that don’t interfere with some other event, but we think we were able to come up with something that would be available to most people in the Pacific Northwest.
It was decided that Friday July 13 and Saturday July 14 would probably be best.
I’m sure Clive is working on things from his end, but for the rest of us we should plan to be in the Salem Oregon area for around these dates. If you have not been to one of these in the past check out the videos on the WCCC website, Google WCCC open house.
More information to follow.

That would be so fun. Wish it wasn't so far from Nashville.

Right you are Scott! We even printed the open house dates in our 2018 Calendar, which is rare because we usually don't plan that far ahead. While we're still working out the details, it will be similar to previous years. Here's a draft of what to expect:

Friday, July 13
Open House day - an informal day to show up whenever, park your car next to others, hang out, socialize, shop for parts, and tour the WCCC facilities. Often people install their parts right there on the spot. It's a good opportunity to enlist some helping hands, too. The day will likely end with some sort of evening cruise / BBQ and sunset photo ops.

Saturday, July 14
We're still looking at options, but we will probably meet again at WCCC, hang out for a bit, then go on some sort of scenic cruise. We will announce details once we figure it out!

Here's a look at our most recent one, in 2016:

And here's a link to the playlist of all our previous Open House videos. Always a good time!

-1973 Opel Manta: 1.9L, 5-speed (restored)

-1986 Volvo 240: dependable beater / "Goldilocks"
-1979 Volvo 245: magnificently ugly brown wagon

10 hours? Are you planning on driving a Yugo or something?

Maybe my calculations are off, but it’s probably 450 to 500 miles from my place to WCCC.

It's allegedly only 4 hours from the house to Bellevue for the Round Up, but it usually takes us 8 with Portland and Seattle traffic. A 500 mile drive is only 10 hours in Montana these days. :wall:

More like 350 miles. It takes 2.5 hours to get from your house to mine and it's 3 hours from my house to Don's.

Ok, it is about 340 miles from my house to WCCC. I miscalculated how many miles North to South there are in Washington. That being said traffic is going to delay things, plus I'm not as young as I used to be so regular potty breaks are now necessary. Additionally I will need to keep Heather fed and watered.
