High Desert Cougar Club of Oregon looking for new members

Post by HighDesertCougarClub » 14 Jun 2018, 21:58

The newest Cougar Club in the United States is in Oregon. The High Desert Cougar Club (HDCC) is looking for new members to join. When you join, you get a Welcome Letter, Membership Card, and a HDCC window cling for the inside window of you Cougar. The club was started in November of 2017 and has 19 members so far. We don't have meeting because everyone is from all over the state, but I do have a website for the club, a Facebook Group, and a Facebook page. On the Events page of the website, I have tried to list every single car show in the state (I have over 150 listed, so you should be able to find a few in your area to attend). I am very active in the Facebook Group, posting every day. We would love to have you join. "How much does it cost per year?" you may ask. Nada. Zilch. Nothing. FREE. It doesn't cost a penny for you to join (I am eating the cost of everything right now). All I ask is that you own a classic Cougar (1967-1973) and that you live in, or near by to, the state of Oregon. If you are interested in joining, go to the HDCC website and go to the Membership page. There is a pdf you need to fill out and send to me either by mail or via email. We would love to have you join.

Hello Conan,

I live in Southern Oregon and own a 67 and 69 Cougar. I would like to join your club but my tablet couldn't open the PDF doc. I will have to try on a different device.

Regards,

Ken (aka relentless)

Hi Ken,

I would love to have you join. Yeah, I'm not sure about the whole tablet thing, but it definitely should work on a regular old computer.

I look forward to receiving your application.

I have a couple of members from Idaho in the club. One on Boise and one in Nampa. I live in Redmond, near Bend, in Central Oregon. Boise is a 5½ hour drive. I would love to have you join anyway. the more people in the club, the more the word is spread, the bigger the club will grow.

If you want to join, just fill out the membership application on the HDCC website. Here is the link.

I hope to hear back from you.

Hey Conan,

I'll be honest..I've been pretty lax in my excitement and involvement because of the affiliation with the Cascade Club for years, trying to keep the eggs into as few baskets as possible. I've been pretty poor about joining them for meetings and outings and I'm sure many of us in Oregon are doing the same for logistics reasons. Having said that, I also sort of feel an affinity and certainly pay dues to the Cascade Club.

For the sake of not getting spread too thin, I've not "joined" the High Desert club, as I again am not sure about getting to Central Oregon too often, as the Summers and show season seems to present way more than I can handle anyway. Not to mention other car hobbies and hobbies in general. It is easy to get spread thin on the Facebook groups too, for that matter. I have kind of stuck to talking here, and with National groups on Facebook because basically, communication is communication, as is "sharing" and asking for advice, seeking tips, etc.

I just thought I'd chime in with some of my personal perspective and rationale..I'm sure a lot of Cougars in Portland, for example, have the same dilemma going on. I do enjoy the occasional Facebook interaction and if I ever can lend a piece of local help, I'm going to continue to do that on your page/group! And too, remember the WCCC Open house and I look forward to seeing all of the possible members of your club there that we can, too. There is a stop at our house, usually, for that event almost every time ;)

Cheers,
Brian Aust

Sounds good, Brian, I understand. I am glad you like the Cascade Cougar Club. I was in it for a short while until I realized that I was never going to drive my Cougar 6 hours to go to a show. There is also no way I would ever make a meeting. That is why I created the HDCC. As for HDCC meeting, I don't have any planned, as I have more members on that side of the mountain. But as the club continues to grow, I hope to have satellite clubs that can have get-togethers, cruises, and attend shows together. I only have two other members in my area.

Hey, if you ever feel like joining, we will be here.

I am very much looking forward to the WCCC Open House.

Hey, you have a beautiful 67 and 68 GTE there. Wow! a GTE! How awesome is that? You are very lucky...as it is a dream of every Cougar enthusiast to have one. Right on, man.

69xrrr7,

No worries. Facebook isn't necessary. I send out periodic emails to the group. Not many...maybe once a month announcing new members...stuff like that. Still, I would love to have you join, if you want to. We are open to all classic Cougar owners.

Here is the page that the application is on.
