Read the engineering reason for the three pipe's and I'd love that set up on my Cobra! Advances are a GOOD thing.... Drone be gone!!

Hah! well you proved the riddle wrong xr7g428... extra credit for you! Its been over 10 years since i heard this riddle and was true then i believe, but i didn't know about the civic. I'll have to update the riddle and unless you tell me there are cars with 5 or 6 tailpipes! It'll be something like this.

"Most cars have 1 or 2 of these and a few have none to see. Some have 4 but never more and fewer yet have 3."

I think the original works with camshafts... Two strokes like the old Saabs didn't have or need a cam. 1, 2 and 4 are common.

Without looking at the replies being in valvetrain development my first thought was "camshaft" which works.
Trying to think of an engine with three camshafts and nothing comes to mind.
