Cougar lovers everywhere would love to read about your car.

The thing I hear most often from Cougar owners at car shows is that they are always disappointed that there are so few Cougars to look at.  For every Cougar article you see in the magazines, there are 1000 other “C” car articles: Camaros, Chevelles, 'Cudas, Chargers…  Well, we can’t do much about the car shows, but we can provide a place for the Cougar to get a bit of much-deserved attention.

Check out the first installment "Confessions of a Cougar-holic" contributed by James Wilson.

Here is how it works:

  • Take some good digital pictures of you and your car, the bigger the better. We can crop them as needed and do our best to make them look as good as possible; we know you are probably not a professional photographer.  If you want a few hints about how to shoot like a pro, check out Car Photography for Dummies.
  • Write your story.  To make it easier, we have come up with the following Cougar Questionnaire that will help you get started.  Don’t sweat the grammar, and we can help with the spelling.  Just do your best to get names and places spelled correctly because we will be using what you give us.  And there is no such thing as too much.  It is a lot easier to shrink-to-fit than to fill in with, well, filler.  It’s not a test; there are no wrong answers.  Just answer what you can and we will take it from there.
  • Save all the images and your responses to the Cougar Questionnaire in a ZIP file and attach it to an email, or just attach it all to an email and .

Keep in mind that we will have to edit things down in some cases.  If we cut something out that really needs to be there, let us know and we will see if we can fix it.

So show us your stuff!

Cougar Questionnaire

About You

  1. Tell us about yourself.  Give us a short bio, including where you grew up, your professional history, and a little bit about how you got where you are today.
  2. How did you get hooked on Cougars? Start with your first one and run through your history up to your current collection.
  3. If you own more than one Cougar, tell us why.
  4. How much does your family (give correct spelling for all names) share your passion for cars, specifically your ongoing love affair with the Cougar?
  5. If there’s one specific Cougar other than the ones now in your collection that you long to possess, what would it be? (You can answer this with a generic model or a specific car you’ve seen that you lust after.)
  6. What clubs do you belong to? (URLs are helpful.)

About Your Cougar

  1. Every car has a story all its own.  What can you tell us about the history of your car?  Do you have a Marti Report? (A scan of the Marti Report is VERY nice to include.)  Do you know anything about the previous owners?  Where did the car spend the last 40 years?  This is perhaps the most interesting part of many Cougar articles, so don’t worry about writing too much.
  2. How and when did you acquire your Cougar? What attracted you to this particular car (the engine, the originality, the rarity, something else?) What was the mileage and overall condition when you bought it?
  3. Every Cougar is rare in our opinion, but how about yours?  What features, options, or modifications make your car unique?
  4. Since buying it, how have you restored/upgraded/maintained the car?
  5. Would you like to give credit to any vendors, restoration shops, body shops, or others that have helped you with your car?
  6. What’s the biggest difficulty you’ve encountered with the car?
  7. Please describe your absolute best experience with the Cougar. (Let's keep this rated PG!)
  8. Is your Cougar a driver?  What is your favorite place to drive your Cougar?  Tell us about the best trip you have ever taken in your car.  Is there a special trip you have in mind?
  9. What, if any, awards has your car garnered while under your stewardship?
  10. What, if anything, do you have planned for your car in the near term?
  11. What advice can you give to Classic Cougar Community readers who might want a Cougar like yours for their own? Are there any other early Cougars that you can suggest as an alternative, which might be a good choice?
  12. Please add any comments that you feel the questions above didn't address.
