I’d say buy your car back for up to a 50% premium. You only live once. After I explained the reason for my text, they informed me that their son had died on that motorcycle. Wow! That is a very tragic story! There's really no words to express what comes with that, you know? I sold my bike and alrea...

I just received and uploaded this video. I inquired as to the horrible noise that it's making and he said it's likely the lifters being dry after an extended period of time sitting. He said it went away after running for a few minutes. Other than that, it seems to idle and respond well. I know it's ...

Just to swim against the tide for a moment, you say you are convinced its a 351W ? The rocker covers on that photo look very much Cleveland to me. These have a flat top surface, eg the pcv valve is vertical, were as the windsor is angled down. There go an engine swap, not a plus feature ! I'm very ...

I don’t feel like at 7k you’re taking a lot of risk if there’s no rust damage. I just (over)paid 6k for a 67 C code with no paint and no interior. Surely that makes sound yours like a good deal haha. Thank you for your insight on the cost. It sounds good to me; it's just so disheartening that it's ...

Re: After searching for 15 years for my childhood '69 Cougar, I'm this close to buying - looking for assistance in prici

Good afternoon everyone, it's been quite some time! I've finally met with the owner and have laid eyes on the Cougar. She's a bit rougher than when she was mine as a teenager/young man, but she's solid. The odometer reads 26,000 miles and I believe it. In my first post I speculated how much it could...

Update: The guy read and responded to my inquiry for pictures and other detailed information, but has yet to deliver. He said he'd get with me two weekends ago and still nothing. I scoured through my archive of pictures and have found only ONE picture of the engine bay, and I can't really tell. Sure...

Re: After searching for 15 years for my childhood '69 Cougar, I'm this close to buying - looking for assistance in prici

Crazy informative post, thank you! Regarding the spacing of the rear spoiler, that's wild. So that would mean it was installed after the fact? I used all morning at work to be able to spot the difference in a Windsor vs. Cleveland, as well as spotting a 428, just in case. You never know. Yes, not a...

Re: After searching for 15 years for my childhood '69 Cougar, I'm this close to buying - looking for assistance in prici

Cool car, although as you've discovered, its not an Eliminator. Besides the "H" in the VIN, a few other things give it away: The chrome fenderwell moldings, the spacing of the rear spoiler pedestals, and the low-back bucket seat. Value is very hard to pin down based on all the unknowns at this poin...

Re: After searching for 15 years for my childhood '69 Cougar, I'm this close to buying - looking for assistance in prici

If the door data plate shown is for the car you are thinking about buying it is a fairly base standard car, a factor that brings its value down. The bigger questions are what other factory options did the car have? And what condition is the car currently in? Those are bigger factors in its value to...

The "H" in the VIN indicates it was originally a 351 2V
Correct, according to the VIN and door tag, it is a 351-2v car with an FMX.
