Re: Scottsdale Auction Week 2020 - Fantasy Bid

$89,000 Probably too high only because I think the owner will do a poor job of telling people what he did to the car. There are so many cars that you have to make your car stand out. For the uninitiated, they may not even realize that Cougar convertibles weren't a thing until 1969. They may not know...

Re: Scottsdale Auction Week 2020 - Fantasy Bid

I have lusted over this car. I think he did it exactly the way that I would have wanted it. It was an ROTM in 2016 and I didn't get much from the owner back then so the write up is not very informative, and many pics are missing now. https://classiccougarcommunity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=6031...

Re: GTE W codes for sale?

They come up occasionally. Contact Jim Pinkerton Cougar1. He is the GT-E registrar. These almost always change hands privately.

Re: Has anyone seen so much cr*p on a car ??

Real time rust proofing! After 50 years you can find anything. I have removed massive mud-dobber nests and even large chucks of asphalt from inner fenders. I found a local place that will put a car up on a lift and steam clean the bottom side. They are pretty thorough and it makes working on the car...

Re: A Mustang for soccer moms?

Those are T-Bird tail lights on the Shelby. If it were not for the Falcon the Mustang would have never existed. If it were not for the Mustang the Cougar would never have existed. It is interesting to note that Shelby made the '67 and '68 a lot more like the Cougar and a lot less like the average Mu...

Re: Sprucing up a '68 Cougar

Just as an FYI to any one following this thread, the Ebay exhaust vendor (ClassicMustang1980) seems to have gone under. They still have auctions up but don't respond at all or ship product. Any one know who was making the exhaust systems for them?

Re: kickdown linkages

What does this mean? "spin in those idle mixture screws" Probably too late to make a difference now anyway. In the past 40 years I have never found a car that didn't run fine with either the appropriate Holley or Edelbrock carb. Both brands require some tuning. There is nothing functional about the ...

Re: kickdown linkages

Chances are pretty good that the Edelbrock won't run right the way it comes out of the box. Carbs have to adjusted to the engine that you put them on. It is possible that it will run okay but even if it does it won't be optimized the way it should be. Since the Holley is sitting on it right now lets...

Re: "Upgrading" '68 Headlight Switch

The diode would probably need to handle at least 5 amps so maybe get a 10 amp to be sure. I don't understand the LED question.

Do you use a wire to clean the air bleeds?
